Lottie is one of those special dogs who makes a friend out of everyone she meets.
This sweet, happy girl has been through more than her share, but you certainly wouldn’t know it from her loving spirit and zest for life. This beautiful tripod may be missing a limb, but she certainly isn’t missing any of the love, happiness, or spirit that makes a dog so special. She has adapted wonderfully to life on three legs and doesn’t let it stop her from enjoying the world around her.

Lottie was found in Tennessee malnourished and with a severely injured left hind leg. Once she received veterinary care, it was discovered that Lottie was also a distemper survivor and heartworm positive. Her injured leg could not be saved and was amputated at the hip. After recovering from surgery, she completed her heartworm treatment and was finally able to put those difficult days behind her.

Now thriving in an experienced southern foster home, Lottie has adapted beautifully to life as a tripod. Her foster encourages plenty of active play to help strengthen her muscles and gives her opportunities to build her confidence. And Lottie is doing wonderfully—having three legs doesn’t seem to have dampened her enthusiasm for life one bit!

Lottie is playful and friendly with other dogs and peacefully shares her foster home with three cats, simply passing them by without a fuss. She is house trained, lets her foster know when she needs to go outside, and has never had an accident while following her regular potty routine. She is also crate trained, although given the choice, she’d much rather be out relaxing on a comfy dog bed with her people nearby.

This good girl walks nicely beside her person on leash without pulling and travels well in the car. Once inside, she enjoys looking out the window and taking in the scenery. Because she is a tripod, she does appreciate a little assistance getting in and out of the vehicle.

Lottie can be a flight risk if something makes her nervous or frightened, so her future family should be careful about keeping her safe. In a securely fenced yard, however, she relaxes and happily enjoys roaming around.
She’s ready for a home where she can enjoy soft beds, sunny days in the yard and plenty of affection.

Paws New England is a foster-based rescue; our dogs reside in various locations throughout the South and New England.  

Adoption fees cover pre-adoption veterinary costs (including vaccinations, spay/neuter when age-appropriate, and heartworm testing/treatment when necessary), a microchip, and transportation to New England, if necessary. The adoption fee is set at a level that enables adoption; they do not cover our costs. Thank you for your generosity and interest in our dogs!

Donations for our young, healthy puppies and dogs support their fellow canines of advanced age or suffering from injuries and abuse, whose donations are reduced but whose veterinary costs are typically much higher. We appreciate your understanding that your newly adopted dog will help others in need.
