Athena came to PAWS New England through one of our amazing Southern partners, Abandoned to Adored. Her brother, Zeus, made his way through PAWS and was successfully adopted at the end of last year… and now it’s sister girl’s turn.

First things first — Athena has absolutely mastered the sad eyes. I mean, this girl can look like she is carrying the weight of the entire world on her shoulders… meanwhile, she is actually a happy, playful girl just out here living her best foster life.

She was a little shy when she first arrived and definitely likes to sit back, observe, and assess the situation before deciding whether or not she wants to participate. Honestly… relatable. But once she settled in, we started seeing more and more of her sweet little personality come out.

Athena is VERY well-mannered, listens incredibly well, and is just an easy girl to have around. She’s not one to cause unnecessary chaos… but don’t mistake quiet for having nothing to say. If Athena wants something badly enough, girlfriend WILL use her voice and let you know.

She loves playing with her foster brother and will happily join in on his nonsense… until she’s had enough. Then she has absolutely no problem telling him, “Sir. Please remove yourself from my personal space.” She enjoys the fun, but she also appreciates a man who knows when to leave her alone.

She is incredibly gentle with her toys, LOVES every human she has met, and especially seems to adore kids. She is a professional kiss-giver and will happily cover you in them if given the opportunity.

And perhaps one of our favorite Athena quirks… she cleans herself like a cat. We don’t know what kind of identity crisis we have going on here, but apparently personal hygiene is very important to her.

Athena is sweet, gentle, playful, observant, affectionate, and just the right amount of opinionated. She may take a minute to sit back and figure you out… but once she decides you’re good people, those sad little eyes won’t fool you anymore.

Her brother Zeus already found his happily ever after through PAWS New England…
Now it’s Athena’s turn.

IMPORTANT INFORMATION -

Paws New England is a foster-based rescue; our dogs reside in various locations throughout the South and New England.

Adoption fees cover pre-adoption veterinary costs (including vaccinations, spay/neuter when age-appropriate, and heartworm testing/treatment when necessary), a microchip, and transportation to New England, if necessary. The adoption fee is set at a level that enables adoption; they do not cover our costs. Thank you for your generosity and interest in our dogs!

Donations for our young, healthy puppies and dogs support their fellow canines of advanced age or suffering from injuries and abuse, whose donations are reduced but whose veterinary costs are typically much higher. We appreciate your understanding that your newly adopted dog will help others in need.
