Burnie is a handsome young dog with a big personality, an even bigger heart, and ears that deserve their own fan club. This goofy boy loves his people, loves his toys, and wants to be involved in whatever his humans are doing. Whether it's a walk around the neighborhood, yard time, or a movie night on the couch, Burnie is happiest when he's part of the fun.

Burnie is a sweet affectionate adolescent who is wonderful with adults and has an incredible desire to learn. He's a quick learner when he's not in a heightened state of arousal, is eager to please, and has already mastered several skills in foster care. Like many teenage dogs, he has a lot of energy, and right now he isn't getting enough opportunity to burn it off because his foster home's yard isn't secure enough for him to safely run and play off leash.

A home with a securely fenced yard where he can exercise every day will make a tremendous difference for him.

Burnie is still very much a puppy and is looking for a family committed to continuing his training and helping him refine his house manners. He's incredibly food motivated, already knows "sit" and "wait," and truly enjoys working with his people.

Leash walks are one of his favorite activities. However, he does best away from the hustle and bustle of busy neighborhoods with lots of activity and other potential stressors which can be overwhelming for him Quiet country roads, peaceful neighborhoods, or scenic trails are where he truly shines.
He is also housetrained and crates beautifully and settles well when it's time to relax. This boy is great in the car, loves looking out the window.

Burnie is looking for a very specific home where he can continue to thrive. A professional behavioral assessment confirmed that he struggles with arousal and excitement more than the average adolescent dog, but also concluded that he is absolutely capable of learning with the right guidance.
He's very food-motivated, which makes training a breeze—but it also means he'll need a family that's mindful about leaving food on the counters.

This boy will do best with an experienced bully breed owner who understands confident, energetic dogs and is committed to continuing his training. A trainer who evaluated Burnie believes he has every opportunity to become an outstanding companion with consistency, patience, and ongoing structure.

Because of this, Burnie is looking to be the only pet in the home. He'll also do best in an adult home or one with children 10 years and older. His ideal family will have a secure fenced yard, understand the importance of providing both mental and physical exercise, and be willing to continue working with him as he matures.

Burnie isn't looking for a perfect family—he's looking for the right family. Someone who will see his incredible potential, invest the time he deserves, and help him grow into the amazing dog everyone knows he can be.

IMPORTANT INFORMATION - 

Paws New England is a foster-based rescue. Our dogs reside in various locations throughout the South and New England.  

Adoption donations cover pre-adoption veterinary costs (including vaccinations, spay/neuter when age-appropriate, and heartworm testing/treatment when necessary), a microchip, and transportation to New England, if necessary.

Donations for our young, healthy puppies and dogs support their fellow canines of advanced age or suffering from injuries and abuse, whose donations are reduced but whose veterinary costs are typically much higher. We appreciate your understanding that your newly adopted dog will help others in need.
