Meet Scooby, a full-bred Great Dane who truly lives up to the “Great” in his name. This stunningly handsome boy turns heads everywhere he goes — but it’s his sweet, affectionate personality that really makes people fall in love the moment they meet him.Age: Adult
Gender: Male
Breeds: Great Dane
Scooby was found as a stray, thin and covered in ticks, clearly having fallen on hard times. His microchip led rescuers to his owner, and together it was decided that the best thing for Scooby would be a fresh start and a chance to find the loving forever home he deserves. Now safe in foster care, he’s thriving and showing everyone what a wonderful companion he is.
True to his breed, Scooby is a classic leaner — he absolutely loves pressing his big, gentle body against his people for affection. He adores human companionship and wants to be wherever his family is. Because he is a BIG boy (and still learning just how big!), he would do best in a home without small children, as his enthusiastic tail wags and joyful movements could accidentally topple a little one over.
Scooby is a high-energy youngster who is having a blast with his foster canine siblings. At first, he played a bit rough, but he’s learning to be gentler and more aware of his size. Now he spends his days enjoying zoomies in the yard, stretching those long legs, and happily romping around. He’s figuring out that being a giant comes with responsibility — especially when playing with smaller dogs.
He’s curious about cats and seems to like them, but mostly because he wants them to join in the fun — so far, he hasn’t met a feline who shares his enthusiasm for playtime!
Scooby is housetrained and does well in the home when left alone. He hasn’t been crated in his foster home, but he settles nicely. He has been known to chew on leashes and beds if they’re left within reach, so keeping tempting items picked up is important. He’s also working on his leash manners and learning not to pull — he’ll need a family committed to continuing his basic training.
One of Scooby’s absolute favorite things? Car rides! He loves hopping in and going along for the adventure.
Scooby would thrive with an active family who can provide regular exercise, guidance, and continued training. A playful canine companion or even doggy daycare would be a wonderful outlet for his energy. Older children who can match his playful spirit would be a bonus.
This big, beautiful boy has so much love to give. With the right family to guide him and embrace his joyful spirit, Scooby will be the most loyal, loving companion you could ever hope for. Let’s find this gentle giant the forever home he so greatly deserves.
