Meet Rudy — Fostering on Cape Cod!Age: Young
Gender: Male
Breeds: Pit Bull Terrier, Labrador Retriever
Rudy is such a good boy that when he arrived at a veterinary clinic in Alabama, the entire team quickly agreed on one thing: he was not going to the shelter. Everyone fell in love with him. Luckily, our rescue had a group of puppies there being vaccinated, and the clinic asked if we could help Rudy find the great home he deserves in New England. Of course, we said yes!
Rudy is one of those dogs who just gets it. Easygoing, affectionate, and well-mannered, he’s settled beautifully into home life and is ready to do the same in his forever home.
He crats quietly during the workday (even long days!) and sleeps soundly in his own bed at night without a peep. In nearly two weeks, he hasn’t had a single accident in the house—he heads outside and gets right down to business within minutes.
Rudy loves his people. He’s friendly with everyone he meets, whether out on walks or welcoming visitors into the home, and he’s incredibly sweet and affectionate. He’s just as happy heading out for an adventure or hopping in the car as he is curling up next to you for a quiet night in.
He’s currently fostered with another dog and enjoys playtime, though he can be a bit persistent when he’s in a playful mood—he does take corrections well. He’s shown no signs of resource guarding and is very gentle when taking treats. He enjoys toys, bones, and ropes but isn’t destructive—just occasionally curious (a shoe might go missing now and then!).
A few quick highlights:
✔️ Crate trained & house trained
✔️ Friendly with people and dogs
✔️ No resource guarding
✔️ Loves toys, car rides, and snuggles
✔️ Nice balance of playful and calm
Rudy is past the wild puppy phase but still has that fun, playful spirit. One thing to note—when he gets excited, he can do a little gentle nibbling. It’s not aggressive and is already improving, but because of his enthusiasm, he’d do best with older kids.
He really is a wonderful dog—easy to love, easy to live with, and ready to be someone’s best friend. 💛

IMPORTANT INFORMATION -
Paws New England is a foster-based rescue; our dogs reside in various locations throughout the south & New England.
Adoption donations cover pre-adoption veterinary costs (including vaccinations, spay/neuter when age-appropriate, and heartworm testing/treatment when necessary), a microchip, and transportation to New England, if necessary.
Donations for our young, healthy puppies and dogs support their fellow canines of advanced age or suffering from injuries and abuse, whose donations are reduced but whose veterinary costs are typically much higher. We appreciate your understanding that your newly adopted dog will help others in need.
