Meet Xena – a resilient beauty with a heart full of love

Xena’s life began with heartbreak. She and her brother were rescued as newborns after their mom was tragically killed in an accident. Fortunately, a kind human stepped in, bottle-fed the puppies, and raised them alongside other dogs—giving Xena a strong foundation of love and socialization. (Her brother has already been adopted… now it’s Xena’s turn!)

Her mama was a Great Pyrenees, and while her brother took after Mom, Xena seems to have inherited her mystery dad’s shepherd looks—creating one absolutely stunning pup.

Now thriving in foster care, Xena is a friendly, happy girl who loves her dog friends and enjoys being part of the pack. She’s growing up surrounded by kindness and learning all about home life, and her foster mom says she’s doing beautifully.

She’s a natural little guardian who likes to keep an eye on her people. When someone approaches, she’ll calmly position herself between you and them and may bark a bit — but she’s never aggressive and doesn’t make any moves toward strangers. She simply wants to be sure everyone is safe.

She showed the same gentle protectiveness with kittens in her foster home, stepping in to block their path if another dog chased them — no snapping, no roughness, just quiet intervention.

This girl truly shines outdoors. She loves running free, playing in all kinds of weather (yes, even splashing in the pool during cold days!), and soaking up fresh air. With her adventurous spirit and watchful nature, she’d likely thrive in a home with space to roam — farm life could be a perfect fit.

Xena is ready to leave her sad beginnings behind and start her forever chapter. If you’re looking for a sweet, social, gorgeous puppy to add to your family, Xena might be your girl.

PLEASE NOTE:
Prior Shepherd experience or guardian dog experience is a major plus for this girl - she is not a couch potato and will require stimulation, training, and exercise as she grows.

IMPORTANT INFORMATION -

Paws New England is a foster-based rescue; our dogs reside in various locations throughout the south & New England.

Adoption donations cover pre-adoption veterinary costs (including vaccinations, spay/neuter when age-appropriate, and heartworm testing/treatment when necessary), a microchip, and transportation to New England, if necessary.

Donations for our young, healthy puppies and dogs support their fellow canines of advanced age or suffering from injuries and abuse whose donations are reduced but whose veterinary costs are typically much higher. We appreciate your understanding that your newly adopted dog will help others in need.
