Meet Hunter, such a sweet and happy boy. From the moment you meet him, it’s clear that Hunter’s favorite thing in the world is simply being loved — and loving right back.

Hunter has been waiting patiently in rescue for a year and a half, and now that he’s settling into a foster home, his foster parents can’t understand how this all-around wonderful boy hasn’t been scooped up yet. His story began like so many strays in Mississippi — alone on the side of the road. He was just a 6-month-old puppy when he was found, and heartbreakingly, it wasn’t long after he had been hit by a car., Hunter suffered a broken leg that required surgery.
He healed beautifully. While he still carries a little swagger in his walk today, it’s simply a reminder of everything he’s overcome — and it doesn’t slow him down one bit.

He absolutely adores people and has shown nothing but kindness and affection to everyone he meets. With slow, thoughtful introductions, he does great with other dogs and enjoys playful companionship. He has also interacted beautifully with preteen kids.

Hunter isn’t a high-energy dog who needs constant activity to be happy. He enjoys some daily exercise and time outside, but he’s just as content relaxing near his people.

He’s both house and crate trained, walks calmly on leash (even during trips into pet-friendly stores), and rides beautifully in the car — usually sitting quietly in the back seat, gazing out the window or lying down to relax. The only thing that makes him a little nervous is when large vehicles zoom past while walking, but with reassurance, he handles it well.

Hunter is simply a good boy — steady, loving, and ready to belong to someone.
After so much time waiting, he deserves a forever home where he can finally leave “rescue status” behind and step fully into the life he’s been so patiently hoping for.
Could you be the one to give Hunter the happy ending he’s been waiting for?
