Say hello to Brody, a handsome 5-year-old Lab mix with a heart of gold and a gentle spirit. Brody came to us from a difficult background--a hoarding situation involving over 180 other dogs, and thus, he views the world with a bit of caution. While he can be timid and standoffish at first, he is a truly "easy" housemate who is simply looking for a patient partner to help him find his confidence.

Brody is the definition of a "chill" dog. Content to spend most of his time curled up in a safe spot near his person, he rarely barks and shows little interest in getting on furniture. Watching him slowly let his guard down and "blossom" is a reward unlike any other. In his foster home, he is already making wonderful progress on his leash skills and is learning that "sit" usually leads to something tasty!

Why Brody is a Great Catch:
~ House & Crate Trained: Brody is a total pro! He always goes potty outside and is perfectly comfortable and quiet in his crate.

~ Dog & Cat Friendly: He is very respectful of other furry friends. He mostly ignores them, making him an ideal addition to a multi-pet household.

~ Likely good with kids: Though untested, due to his timid nature, he probably would do best with older children who can respect his space as he warms up.

~ Low Maintenance: He is not a high-energy barker or a destructive chewer, just a calm boy who enjoys a steady routine.

~ Well behaved: Brody has shown ZERO signs of aggression, reactivity, or resource guarding. He responds well to correction, is treat-motivated, and eager to please!

Where Brody still has room to grow:
Until he is oriented, Brody might be a flight risk and should even be leashed or monitored in fenced areas.

Brody is still learning leash skills and pulls a little, but is learning fast.

Brody has shown some anxiety when left alone (knocking items over), and ideally will have someone who is home a lot and can crate him when left alone.

Brody may not be a Velcro-dog on day one (more like a shadow), but for the family willing to take it slow, he will be a loyal, steady companion for life. He has waited a long time for a home to call his own—could your family be the ones to show him how good life can be?

IMPORTANT INFORMATION -

Paws New England is a foster-based rescue; our dogs reside in various locations throughout the south & New England.

Adoption donations cover pre-adoption veterinary costs (including vaccinations, spay/neuter when age-appropriate, and heartworm testing/treatment when necessary), a microchip, and transportation to New England, if necessary.

Donations for our young, healthy puppies and dogs support their fellow canines of advanced age or suffering from injuries and abuse, whose donations are reduced but whose veterinary costs are typically much higher. We appreciate your understanding that your newly adopted dog will help others in need.
