Meet Opal — a sweet, goofy baby girl with a heart as bright as her name. This happy pup truly gets along with everyone she meets and brings a whole lot of joy wherever she goes.Age: Baby
Gender: Female
Breeds: Hound, Labrador Retriever
Opal came from humble beginnings. She was one of a litter found abandoned on the steps of a rural church, but she’s now thriving in her foster home and showing just how wonderful she is. She absolutely loves spending time with her people, so a home where she can be part of the action and included in daily life would be a dream come true for her.
She does well with people of all ages. While she can be a bit enthusiastic and playful, she isn’t a jumper and is simply a fun, happy companion—just something to keep in mind for families with very young children.
Opal lives with multiple dogs of various ages and does great with them all.
She has been cat tested with no issues, though like many playful pups, she may chase if a cat runs, so dog-savvy cats would be best.
Opal walks nicely on leash from the house to the car and rides well in the back of an SUV with no signs of car sickness.
She’s house-trained to a doggie door and would just need a little help learning how to signal when she needs to go out in a new home.
While Opal will go into a crate, she isn’t a big fan of it. Thankfully, she doesn’t really need one—she doesn’t chew furniture and settles well once distractions are gone.
Puppy beds, however, don’t stand a chance! One of her funniest quirks is attempting (and failing) to drag a giant dog bed out the doggie door, which never fails to get a laugh.
Whether she’s heading out on an adventure or curling up on the couch for some quality cuddle time, Opal is always happy just being with her people.
She’s a loving, entertaining, and loyal girl who’s ready to find her forever home.

Adoption donations cover pre-adoption vet costs (including vaccinations, spay/neuter when age appropriate, and heartworm testing/treatment when necessary), a microchip, and transportation to New England if necessary.
Donations for our young, healthy puppies and dogs support their fellow canines of advanced age or suffering from injuries and abuse whose donations are reduced but whose veterinary costs are typically much higher. We appreciate your understanding that your newly adopted dog will help others in need.
