Lucky is a 6-year-old Heeler who was adopted as a young puppy in 2020 and is now looking for a new forever home due to changed family circumstances, through no fault of his own. He’s currently around 85 lbs and is doing well on a structured weight-loss journey, so his future family will need to be committed to continuing healthy routines, regular walks, and mindful portions.

Lucky previously lived with cats and did well with them.
While he was not socialized with other dogs early in life, he has made great progress in his foster home and is doing well with calm dogs when introductions are slow and thoughtful.
He has no prior experience with children, so any potential match should keep that in mind.

In his foster home, Lucky is thriving. He is housebroken, shows good manners, and is actively working on improving his obedience skills. He benefits from structure and consistency and continues to show how eager he is to learn.

One of Lucky’s most endearing traits is his love of “conversation” with his people, especially when he believes his meal is late or that he urgently deserves a treat right now. His expressive personality, sweet nature, and growing confidence make him a truly special companion.

Lucky is looking for a patient, committed home that will support his continued progress, celebrate his milestones, and give him the loving second chance he deserves.

Paws New England is a foster-based rescue; our dogs reside in various locations throughout the south & New England.  

Adoption donations cover pre-adoption vet costs (including vaccinations, spay/neuter when age appropriate, and heartworm testing/treatment when necessary), a microchip, and transportation to New England if necessary.

Donations for our young, healthy puppies and dogs support their fellow canines of advanced age or suffering from injuries and abuse whose donations are reduced but whose veterinary costs are typically much higher. We appreciate your understanding that your newly adopted dog will help others in need.
