Roan’s story is one of true resilience. This sweet young girl survived being struck by a car, suffering major injuries that included fractures in both back legs, her pelvis, and her jaw. Thanks to a compassionate stranger who rushed her to safety, she was able to enter our rescue and get the urgent care she needed.

After several surgeries — one of which required the amputation of a rear leg — Roan proved just how tough she is. Life on three legs hasn’t slowed her down whatsoever; she runs, plays, and embraces every day with unbelievable enthusiasm. She’s estimated to have been born around December 23, 2024 and weighs 45 pounds, which should be her full adult size.

She is fully vaccinated, spayed, microchipped, heartworm negative, and up to date on heartworm and flea prevention.

Roan is wonderful with other dogs and loves kids, though her excited play style might be a bit too rambunctious for very young children. She’s curious about cats but doesn’t react to them during leash walks. She’s kennel trained, walks beautifully on leash, enjoys car rides, and is an absolute water lover — a kiddie pool is her happy place!

Her foster home’s fenced yard has been a dream for her; she spends her days zooming around, lounging in the sun, and splashing to her heart’s content. Because she thrives with room to play safely, a secure fenced yard is an absolute requirement for her forever family.

Paws New England is a foster-based rescue; our dogs reside in various locations throughout the south & New England.  

Adoption donations cover pre-adoption vet costs (including vaccinations, spay/neuter when age-appropriate, and heartworm testing/treatment when necessary), a microchip, and transportation to New England if needed.

Donations for our young, healthy puppies and dogs support their fellow canines of advanced age or suffering from injuries and abuse whose donations are reduced but whose veterinary costs are typically much higher. We appreciate your understanding that your newly adopted dog will help others in need.
