Meet Eleanor — A Gentle Soul Ready for the Life She Deserves

Eleanor (Cali to some, but always Eleanor to us) has had more than her share of hard breaks, yet you’d never know it from her soft eyes and open heart. Despite everything, she remains gentle, hopeful, and eager to love.

Recently, Eleanor was an inpatient at a large shelter in Memphis. The moment she stepped out, she seemed to know life was finally looking up — she slipped right into her foster home as if she’d always belonged there. She’s already bonding with her small foster brother, becoming fast friends, and she absolutely lit up meeting an 8-year-old boy, showering him with attention and happily soaking it up in return.

Eleanor is house-trained, fully vaccinated, and has wonderful manners in the home.

Her past is heartbreaking, but it explains why she deserves the best of everything now. About three years ago, she was abandoned at a vet clinic by her owner, who refused both to reclaim her and to sign her over. Eleanor spent well over a year living in a clinic kennel, alone on weekends except for brief check-ins. The staff cared deeply, but a clinic is no place for a dog to spend her life.

She was eventually adopted by a clinic employee — only to lose that home too when the owner’s animals were later confiscated by animal control. Thankfully, Eleanor was released into rescue, and her real second chance could finally begin.

Now, Eleanor is safe. Loved. And ready.

This is a once-in-a-lifetime kind of dog — resilient, kind, and endlessly forgiving. We are determined that she will never be failed by humans again. Her forever family is out there, and when they find her, they’ll wonder how they ever lived without her.

If you’re looking for a loyal, loving companion with a heart of gold, Eleanor is waiting.
