Meet Jenkins — the soft-hearted sweetheart just waiting to shine!

Jenkins’ journey hasn’t been the easiest. When he arrived at the shelter in late July, life as he knew it had suddenly changed. It was clear he had probably once known the comforts of a home, and adjusting to life in a kennel was overwhelming for him. He came in stressed and unsure of his surroundings, and on top of that, he was dealing with skin issues that made him feel even more uncomfortable.

But Jenkins is a fighter — and a gentle one at that. With time, care, and plenty of love, he has been healing both physically and emotionally. Once you step outside the kennel with him, his true nature emerges. He walks beautifully on a leash, carries himself with quiet dignity, and reveals what a loving, gentle companion he can be once he learns to trust you.

Inside his kennel, fear can still get the better of him, causing him to bark or jump — but that’s not the real Jenkins. The real Jenkins is the calm, devoted friend you see when you give him a moment to feel safe. He also enjoys the company of a laid-back female dog at the shelter, so a calm canine companion would help him truly flourish.

If you’re looking for a sweet senior boy who has already learned the value of trust and is ready for his second chance… Jenkins is your guy. He’s so ready to love — he just needs someone to choose him.

Adoption donations cover pre-adoption veterinary costs (including vaccinations, spay/neuter procedures when age-appropriate, and heartworm testing/treatment when necessary), a microchip, and transportation to New England if necessary.

Donations for our young, healthy puppies and dogs support their fellow canines of advanced age or suffering from injuries and abuse whose donations are reduced but whose veterinary costs are typically much higher. We appreciate your understanding that your newly adopted dog will help others in need.
