Dreyfus truly is the total package — the kind of dog foster families secretly hope never leaves… and in his case, his foster mom will be the first to tell you he’s about as close to perfect as they come. 💛Age: Young
Gender: Male
Breeds: Labrador Retriever, Terrier

This handsome, smaller-sized Lab mix (right around 30 lbs) is the ideal “just right” dog — big enough for adventures, small enough to fit perfectly curled up beside you on the couch… or in your lap, if you don’t mind sharing your space with a professional snuggler.
Dreyfus’s story hasn’t been without a few bumps. He was originally found in Mississippi with an injured paw, likely from a car encounter. Thankfully, nothing was broken, and with a little care and kindness, he healed beautifully — showing everyone just how resilient and easygoing he is.
He was adopted and spent a couple of months in a home, but was recently returned through no fault of his own. While his adopter had initially committed to managing his known cardiac condition, it ultimately became something they were not comfortable with long-term. And so, this incredibly special boy is once again looking for the forever family he truly deserves.
And what a dog he is…
Dreyfus is:
> Crate trained and well-mannered
> Easy to live with — he just goes with the flow
> Wonderful with other dogs
> Absolutely fantastic with children (his foster’s granddaughter is his favorite human)
> Loves his chew toys!
> Rides well in the car
> Affectionate without being demanding
> The kind of dog who settles right into your life like he’s always belonged there
> His foster family describes him as a dream — the dog everyone wishes for.
MEDICAL ISSUE/CARDIAC:
Dreyfus does have a moderate pulmonary valve stenosis (a heart condition), but here’s the important part: He has been evaluated by two cardiologists, and at this time:
* No surgery is needed or expected
* He is expected to live a normal, happy life if the condition remains stable; he can run and play like other
dog but he should not be allowed to over-exert himself.
* He simply requires routine monitoring (a follow-up echocardiogram every year)
* He is on Atelenol medication daily - this is relatively inexpensive - 3 months is approx. $55.00
While we would ask his adoptive family to cover the Cardiology consultations each year, Paws New England would provide financial support if/when a surgical interview is required.
Many dogs with this level of condition live full, active lives — and Dreyfus is already proving that he’s one of them.
What he needs now is someone who sees all of him — not just a diagnosis — and recognizes the incredible, loving, easy companion he is.
If you’re looking for that rare, special dog who checks every box and then some… Dreyfus is waiting. And once you meet him, you’ll understand why his foster family thinks he’s nothing short of perfect. 🐾💛

IMPORTANT INFORMATION -
Paws New England is a foster-based rescue; our dogs reside in various locations throughout the south & New England.
Adoption donations cover pre-adoption vet costs (including vaccinations, spay/neuter when age-appropriate, and heartworm testing/treatment when necessary), a microchip, and transportation to New England if needed.
Donations for our young, healthy puppies and dogs support their fellow canines of advanced age or suffering from injuries and abuse whose donations are reduced but whose veterinary costs are typically much higher. We appreciate your understanding that your newly adopted dog will help others in need.
