Meet Melvin — a sweet, petite, playful little soul who just wants to be someone’s best friend.

Melvin’s first family adored him, but their busy home daycare environment was simply too overwhelming for him. With constant activity and little downtime, he couldn’t settle, so they made the choice to surrender him to their trusted veterinarian. His vet took him in, and Melvin quickly showed what a loving, loyal pup he truly is.

This boy bonds beautifully once he trusts you — especially if you offer string cheese as an introduction. He’s usually comfortable meeting new people when he’s allowed to approach at his own pace.
With other dogs, he can be nervous at first, but he has learned to feel safe around his foster family’s large pups, even curling up beside them for naps and play sessions.

Melvin is playful, clever, and a natural at fetch, tug, and any toy that squeaks. He thrives on affection and thinks the sofa was invented just for cuddling.
Bedtime? He’ll snooze on his own dog bed if asked… but his happiest place is right beside you.

He does get a little sad when left alone and may whine or bark at first, but he settles after a few minutes. Car rides still make him nervous, and he’s working hard on leash manners. But with patience, encouragement, and love, he continues to build confidence every day.

Melvin is ready for a calm, caring home where he can enjoy a predictable routine, fun playtime, and all the snuggles his heart desires.

If you’re looking for a devoted companion who will gently tap your arm to request more love, Melvin can’t wait to meet you.

Donations for our young, healthy puppies and dogs support their fellow canines of advanced age or suffering from injuries and abuse whose donations are reduced but whose veterinary costs are typically much higher. We appreciate your understanding that your newly adopted dog will help others in need.
