Dakota is the perfect pint-size package of fun, brains, and heart — weighing in at a just-right 35 pounds for those who want some spunk without the big-dog body.

This happy girl absolutely loves her doggie playmates and would thrive in a home with a playful canine friend or regular opportunities to socialize. She’s also impressively smart — her foster reports that Dakota excelled in formal puppy training classes and is eager to learn, especially when treats are involved (food motivation = instant star student!).

Dakota can be a little cautious in new environments, but give her a doggie friend to show her the ropes, and she blossoms quickly — with canine guidance, she’s a breeze! Once she feels comfortable, her sweet and playful personality really shines.

We’re told she could use some work on leash walking, as she tends to pull, but a good no-pull harness and continued leash exposure will help. Given her eagerness to learn, this is sure to go well.

Dakota is the kind of dog who brings joyful energy to your day while still being manageable in size. She’s curious, affectionate, and always ready for her next adventure — whether that’s playtime with friends, showing off her training skills, or settling in for quality time with her people.

If you’re looking for a medium-sized companion with personality, intelligence, and a whole lot of love to give, Dakota may just be your girl.

IMPORTANT INFORMATION -

Paws New England is a foster-based rescue; our dogs reside in various locations throughout the south & New England.

Adoption donations cover pre-adoption veterinary costs (including vaccinations, spay/neuter when age-appropriate, and heartworm testing/treatment when necessary), a microchip, and transportation to New England, if necessary.

Donations for our young, healthy puppies and dogs support their fellow canines of advanced age or suffering from injuries and abuse, whose donations are reduced but whose veterinary costs are typically much higher. We appreciate your understanding that your newly adopted dog will help others in need.
