His story begins in heartbreak. He was found abandoned deep in the woods of northern Mississippi, far away from any homes or help. He was starving, so thin you could count every bone in his body. His eyes held no spark—just a quiet sadness, the look of a soul who had given up. But Carter’s story didn’t end there. Thanks to a kind stranger, he was given a second chance. With time, love, and plenty of food, Carter has gained his weight back—and more importantly, his joy of life.
Today, Carter is a whole new dog. He starts his day with a good run in the yard to stretch his legs and get those zoomies out! After that, it’s breakfast time—his favorite part of the morning. He does need to be fed separately, but that is easily done. Once he’s had his fill, his foster mom heads off to work. Carter then holds down the fort. He naps, dreams of squirrels, and hangs out with his kennel mate.
He’s medium-to-high energy, so he’d be the perfect match for a household that loves to spend time outside. He runs to his heart’s content, chase butterflies, and then flop down in the grass with a big doggy grin. Carter and his canine foster sibling run, play, and chase each other until they drop.
But Carter’s not all go-go-go. He’s also a total sweetheart who loves to snuggle up with his person at night.
After a day of adventure, all he wants is a soft blanket, a warm lap, and someone to lean on.
He’s the kind of dog who will be your shadow—fun in the daylight, and cuddles when the sun goes down.
Carter is ready to start the next chapter of his life—with a family who wants a fun, young, and beautiful companion by their side.
He’d thrive in an active home with a yard to play in or another playful dog to be his buddy. Most of all, he just wants to be loved and never forgotten again.
If you’re looking for a dog who overcame initial misery and is still full of love, you have found your boy.

Adoption donations cover pre-adoption vet costs (including vaccinations, spay/neuter when age appropriate, and heartworm testing/treatment when necessary), a microchip, and transportation to New England if necessary.
Donations for our young, healthy puppies and dogs support their fellow canines of advanced age or suffering from injuries and abuse whose donations are reduced but whose veterinary costs are typically much higher. We appreciate your understanding that your newly adopted dog will help others in need.
