One of the best things about Shelby, besides her adorable giant ears, is her willingness to learn and her ability to transition to new situations. How do we know? Her southern foster has sponsored four weeks of one-on-one training for Shelby in Connecticut.
Shelby was having some difficulty settling. She's super smart and a very active girl, and she could not contain her excitement.
Enter Dogs by Doug - a fabulous trainer who sent us this update after one week of training -
~ She can easily walk by other dogs without distraction.
~ Further testing is being done on her ability to get along with dogs in a home setting
(She had lived with other dogs in Memphis, but we weren't 100% sure.)
~ No small animals for this girl - she has a "thing" for rabbits - not safe.
~ She's super social with every person she meets
~ She's brilliant, eager to learn, and please.
~ She has energy, but when given the right amount of mental and physical stimulation, she's fantastic.
~ She's very food motivated, which only makes continued training easy!
This black-and-white beauty was recently rescued from the streets and is fully recovered from a hip injury that required surgery. She doesn’t let that slow her down, and she should have no further complications from the procedure.
She loves playing fetch with her squeaky balls and romping in the snow.
A loyal, loving pup eager to learn and please, Shelby enjoys playing with other dogs after a slow and proper introduction.
She’s eager to find her forever home and excited about all the memories and adventures you’ll create together.
Shelby is the perfect companion for someone looking to do life together. She will be the ideal training pal! She understands boundaries, but is a typical puppy.
Shelby is currently being fostered in Connecticut and will come to you with weeks of training. You will meet with Shelby and the trainer so you can continue all the hard work she's doing with Doug.
She kennels like a pro. She is also fully house-trained!
If you’re ready for a loving and loyal companion who will bring endless fun, excitement, and affection to your life, Shelby is the one for you!

PLEASE—Think long and hard before adopting a puppy. Consider the lifestyle change this puppy will come with. He cannot be crated for more than 3-4 hours until he's older. Puppy-proofing your home will be necessary. Puppies scratch and nip, so if you have small children, can they handle this? Training will be so crucial in this puppy's life. Do you have the time?
IMPORTANT INFORMATION -
Paws New England is a foster-based rescue. Our dogs reside in various locations throughout the South and New England.
Adoption donations cover pre-adoption vet costs (including vaccinations, spay/neuter when age appropriate, and heartworm testing/treatment when necessary), a microchip, and transportation to New England if necessary.
Donations for our young, healthy puppies and dogs support their fellow canines of advanced age or suffering from injuries and abuse whose donations are reduced but whose veterinary costs are typically much higher. We appreciate your understanding that your newly adopted dog will help others in need.
