Brando's background is a bit of a mystery, although it seems clear that he was someone's beloved pet before being picked up as a stray (and never reclaimed) back in May. Brando says, "I know I'm a little intimidating with my big muscles and big noggin, but underneath this brawn is the soul of a Loverboy.
Brando LOVES walks but tends to pull on the leash out of excitement. He is highly food-motivated and can be redirected when he spots something (or someone) that interests him. He has been friendly and polite when he's met other humans on walks and doesn't seem bothered by cyclists, skateboarders, etc.
Brando had entropion surgery on both his eyes in June 2024; however, the condition possibly went untreated for long enough to have impacted his vision. He doesn't seem to see particularly well at night and will bark at strange shadows and movements he perceives in the dark outside. This isn't a big deal; it's something to be aware of!
This boy is completely housetrained. He is also crate trained, but when crated, he will whine and fuss when left alone in a separate room. But he did better when crated in the same room as his foster's other dogs. His foster did stop crating him, and so far, he's never misbehaved.
His foster has only two stipulations for his new family. First, because he is a very strong dog, he will need an owner who feels comfortable handling a dog of his size and strength. As noted earlier, he's a leash-puller, so his primary handler needs to be someone with good balance and grip strength and willingness to work on leash walking.
Second, his future owner needs to be willing to conduct proper, safe introductions between him and other dogs. He can be good with other dogs but is territorial.
Foster has found he does best when introduced to new dogs away from home. Once he can view other dogs as not being an "intruder," he can enjoy their company.
Brando enjoys the company of female dogs more than male dogs'. So, his foster thinks a home with only female dogs would be best.
Brando is a fairly low-maintenance fella who loves the simple things in life:
---long walks, lazy mornings, abundant cuddles, and yummy snacks.
In return, he promises to be the most faithful companion you can imagine!
Breed Experience is a must for this guy - he's gorgeous but he needs someone who understands how he thinks!!

Donations for our young, healthy puppies and dogs support their fellow canines of advanced age or suffering from injuries and abuse whose donations are reduced but whose veterinary costs are typically much higher. We appreciate your understanding that your newly adopted dog will help others in need.
