This beautiful little girl is Lucy; such a gentle, affectionate gal.

Lucy was living with her mom, (who just found a home thru PAWS!!) in a small rural Mississippi town for her entire life. Prior to rescue they found shelter under the porches and awnings of the small downtown businesses.
The patrons of the town would often share their leftovers from local restaurants with them. They learned how to survive on the streets, until one night, their lives took a drastic turn around. A fire started, engulfing all of the surrounding buildings and businesses; only burned rubble remained. When found, they were still there, hungry, dehydrated, dirty and barely surviving in the rubble.
The city officials quickly notified one of our southern rescue partners, and they immediately got the dogs and took them into foster homes.
Lucy was found to have a condition where her left eyelids turned inward, so she recently underwent a simple procedure to correct that.

Lucy shares her foster home with several canine siblings of all ages and sizes, and she is great with all of the other dogs. She's sweet and tolerant with the smaller puppies and playful and loving with her adult siblings.

She is also very gentle and loving with small children and cats.

Lucy just loves to play. She has a ton of fun chasing and running with her foster siblings in the backyard. She also loves to jump into the puppy pool on warm weather days.

She lives for treats and toys and can be bribed into doing anything with the right treats....such a great training tool!! She also enjoys afternoon naps inside the house on the soft rug or the big fluffy bed.

This precious pup is completely house-trained. She will go outside to potty if someone is home to let her out. Otherwise, she uses training pads. She has never had an accident inside the house.

Lucy is working on leash training, and she's starting to get comfortable walking on one. She isn't too fond of her crate, but will stay in it without too much of a fuss.
She does great in the car and never shows any separation anxiety when her foster leaves her to go to work.

Lucy is simply a great girl, looking for a family to return the love that she's so eager to give.

Donations for our young, healthy puppies and dogs support their fellow canines of advanced age or suffering from injuries and abuse whose donations are reduced but whose veterinary costs are typically much higher. We appreciate your understanding that your newly adopted dog will help others in need.
