Meet Billy 💙 — Your Gentle, Joy-Loving Adventure Buddy

Wherever Billy goes, people say the same thing: “He is the sweetest dog.” And it’s true. Billy is a gentle, quiet soul with a heart full of love and a joyful spark that comes out when it’s time to play.

Billy adores other dogs and especially loves romping around with his foster brother, Jenkins (also adoptable!). When playtime hits, Billy’s signature happy zoomies appear — pure joy in motion. Because he can get a little jumpy when he’s excited, he’d do best in a home with older kids (8+), but he has truly done wonderfully with every adult, child, and dog he’s ever met.

Billy’s story began about four years ago when he was rescued from a kill shelter in North Carolina. Since then, he’s been deeply loved by a senior couple. Sadly, due to mobility challenges, they made the incredibly difficult and selfless decision to find Billy a new home where he can get the attention, exercise, and enrichment he deserves.

In his foster home, Billy has shown what a great companion he is. He’s completely housebroken, non-destructive when left free to roam, and settles nicely at home. Like many dogs who haven’t had formal training, he would benefit from learning a few basic commands and some door manners — and his foster parents are already working with him on these skills.

Billy truly shines outdoors. He lives for fresh air, car rides with his head out the window, and exploring the world one sniff at a time. True to his hound nature, following exciting scent trails is a favorite pastime. He’d be thrilled to join a family who enjoys walks, hikes, or simply spending time outside together.

Billy would do great in most loving homes — especially one that will continue his training, share adventures, and give him the companionship he craves. He has so much love to give and can’t wait to find the family who will call him theirs forever.

Paws New England is a foster-based rescue; our dogs reside in various locations throughout the south & New England.

Adoption donations cover pre-adoption vet costs (including vaccinations, spay/neuter when age appropriate, and heartworm testing/treatment when necessary), a microchip, and transportation to New England if necessary.

Donations for our young, healthy puppies and dogs support their fellow canines of advanced age or suffering from injuries and abuse whose donations are reduced but whose veterinary costs are typically much higher. We appreciate your understanding that your newly adopted dog will help others in need.
