Starri may be tiny at 13 lbs, but her spirit is anything but.
This sweet little beagle (possibly sprinkled with a dash of weenie dog) was found alone by a Southern animal control officer — favoring an injured back leg, carrying a dislocated hip, and a damaged knee.

Her past is mostly a mystery, but her resilience speaks louder than any backstory ever could. Once safe in foster care, X-rays revealed significant injuries — a dislocated hip and torn ligaments around her knee. She bravely underwent both hip and knee surgery to give her the pain-free future she deserved.

And through it all — pre-op jitters, post-op staples, recovery weeks — Starri has remained unshaken.
On paper, her injuries sound overwhelming… but in real life, she’s been a steady, shining reminder that hard things can’t dim a bright soul.

She thrives alongside other dogs and absolutely adores her oversized foster siblings. Her small size has never slowed her down — not before surgery, not after, not even now during recovery.
She truly believes she’s one of the big dogs, and honestly? They’ve welcomed her right into the pack.

Starri is still learning to trust humans again, but she’s making gentle, intentional progress every day. She loves belly rubs, treats, cozy snuggles, calm companionship…and also values her independence.

Her favorite pastime? Nose to the ground, sniffing every scent like she’s solving the world’s cutest mystery. She explores smells like it’s her full-time job, and she takes that job very seriously.

Being around other dogs gives her confidence, comfort, and security — proof that trust can be felt long before it’s understood.

Because of her journey, her heart, and the way she finds safety in the presence of other dogs, Starri will need a dog companion in her forever home.
Not just a friend — but a steady sidekick to help her continue blooming into her bravest self. A confident canine buddy is truly where she feels most understood, secure, and at home.

Starri is ready for a patient, loving home that will celebrate her strength, nurture her trust, and never underestimate the heart of a tiny dog with an unstoppable soul.

Paws New England is a foster-based rescue; our dogs reside in various locations throughout the south & New England.

Adoption donations cover pre-adoption vet costs (including vaccinations, spay/neuter when age appropriate, and heartworm testing/treatment when necessary), a microchip, and transportation to New England if necessary.

Donations for our young, healthy puppies and dogs support their fellow canines of advanced age or suffering from injuries and abuse whose donations are reduced but whose veterinary costs are typically much higher. We appreciate your understanding that your newly adopted dog will help others in need.
