Meet Chickie, a gentle, sweet-natured girl with a quiet soul and a heart full of love just waiting for the right person. While she may be a little shy when meeting new people, patience and kindness are all it takes to earn her trust. Once she feels safe, she blossoms into an incredibly loyal and affectionate companion.
Chickie does well with children who understand that she appreciates having her own space and allowing her to approach on her own terms.

She enjoys the company of other dogs and would be equally happy sharing her home with a friendly canine companion or soaking up all of the attention as an only dog.

This sweet girl is fully house trained and has excellent manners in the home. Crates, however, are not her favorite. Chickie experiences separation anxiety and has been working through it with the help of medication and her family. Because being confined is especially stressful for her, her ideal home will be one where she doesn't need to spend long hours alone.
A retired adopter, someone who works from home, or a family with a flexible schedule would allow Chickie to feel secure and truly thrive.

While she walks on leash, the outside world can be overwhelming for her, and she's still building confidence beyond the comfort of home. Her forever family should be willing to continue helping her at her own pace with gentle encouragement and positive reinforcement.

Chickie isn't looking for perfection—she's simply looking for someone who will understand her sensitive heart and love her for exactly who she is. In return, she'll offer unwavering loyalty, quiet companionship, and the kind of unconditional love that only a special dog like Chickie can give.

Paws New England is a foster-based rescue; our dogs reside in various locations throughout the south & New England.  

Adoption donations cover pre-adoption vet costs (including vaccinations, spay/neuter when age appropriate, and heartworm testing/treatment when necessary), a microchip, and transportation to New England if necessary.

Donations for our young, healthy puppies and dogs support their fellow canines of advanced age or suffering from injuries and abuse whose donations are reduced but whose veterinary costs are typically much higher. We appreciate your understanding that your newly adopted dog will help others in need.
