Pete is a super fun and happy boy who’s guaranteed to make your days brighter. At 5–6 years old, this spirited pup is the epitome of resilience and joy. He came into the rescue missing his left front leg, but we don’t know his backstory. What we do know is that Pete doesn’t let it slow him down!
Recently, Pete held his own surrounded by big dogs at Meadow Wood, keeping up with the pack like a champ. You’d never guess he’s a tripod! His vibrant energy and love for life are truly inspiring.
Pete is making his way to New England this weekend, and we’ll be learning more about him. We’ll also confirm that his remaining front structures are healthy and, if needed, ensure he gets a prosthesis to support his adventurous spirit.
If you’re looking for a lively, loving companion who proves that challenges can be met with courage and a wagging tail, Pete is your guy. Give this pistol of a pup a home – he’s ready to be your new best friend! 🐾❤️
Paws New England is honored to assist with this effort of finding the dogs from Meadow Wood Rescue homes after a beloved rescuer Suzy Young passed away. All the dogs have been placed in foster homes where they are adjusting well, though understandably confused and grieving. Suzy cared for these sweet seniors well, but they required updates on vaccinations, dental cleanings, and some surgical procedures. Much of this care has been completed thanks to generous community donations and veterinary support.
We’re just beginning to discover each dog's unique personality, and we’re committed to finding them loving, permanent homes as soon as possible. While we know the basics of their behavior, house training, and visible health, potential adopters should be aware that, due to limited resources, we haven’t conducted extensive tests for underlying conditions like kidney or liver issues.

IMPORTANT INFORMATION -
Paws New England is a foster-based rescue; our dogs reside in various locations throughout the south & New England.
Adoption donations cover pre-adoption vet costs (including vaccinations, spay/neuter when age appropriate, and heartworm testing/treatment when necessary), a microchip, and transportation to New England if necessary.
Donations for our young, healthy puppies and dogs support their fellow canines of advanced age or suffering from injuries and abuse whose donations are reduced but whose veterinary costs are typically much higher. We appreciate your understanding that your newly adopted dog will help others in need.
