Handsome, hunky Mr. Brando has been in foster care since June 2024, and he is SO ready to begin his new life as your very best baby boy!Age: Adult
Gender: Male
Breeds: Pit Bull Terrier, American Staffordshire Terrier
Unknown with Cats
Brando's background is a bit of a mystery, although it seems clear that he was someone's beloved pet before being picked up as a stray (and never reclaimed) back in May. Brando says, "I know I look a little intimidating with my big noggin and muscles, but underneath this brawn is the soul of a Loverboy."
Brando has been a perfect houseguest since Day 1 in his foster home: he has never had a single accident or incident of naughtiness, and in fact his foster mama doesn't even have to crate him because he is so well-behaved when left to his own devices. He gets along marvelously with the other female dogs in his household, and has a bouncy but gentle play style. Brando exhibits ZERO separation anxiety or resource guarding tendencies, and overall has been a delightful, low-maintenance house hippo.
He adores every human he meets—young and old, male and female, even the veterinarians who poke and prod him. He loves when people come visit him at home, and he has minded his manners particularly well around his foster's elderly parents (no jumping or mouthiness). He is highly intelligent AND food-motivated, which makes training him a dream. His foster mama has enrolled him in an "Introduction to Nosework" course, and so far he appears to be quite the prodigy!
He LOVES walks, and does not seem reactive to pedestrians, cyclists, or skateboarders; other dogs don't seem to bother him either (provided he can pass them at a reasonable distance—say, on the opposite sidewalk). He does pull on the leash out of excitement, but that is easily corrected with a simple command and treats.

Brando would enjoy living in a home with a smaller female dog, but he would also be perfectly happy as an only dog. Because he is strong, his primary handler should be someone who is comfortable managing a powerfully-built dog. Also, for that reason, we are saying older children only for this boy
In summary, Brando is a fantastic fellow who loves the simple things in life: long walks or hikes, lazy mornings, abundant snuggles, and tasty snacks. He is so desperate for a forever family who can shower him with all the love he deserves, and in return he promises to be the most faithful companion you can imagine! Take a look into his soulful eyes, and picture life with your new best friend!
Breed Experience is highly recommended for this guy - he's gorgeous but he needs someone who understands how he thinks!!

Adoption donations cover pre-adoption vet costs (including vaccinations, spay/neuter when age appropriate, and heartworm testing/treatment when necessary), a microchip, and transportation to New England if necessary.
Donations for our young, healthy puppies and dogs support their fellow canines of advanced age or suffering from injuries and abuse whose donations are reduced but whose veterinary costs are typically much higher. We appreciate your understanding that your newly adopted dog will help others in need.
