lookout for his forever home. He is a sweet, friendly boy who absolutely adores people and gets
along wonderfully with other dogs, making him a great addition to almost any family!
Beasley is housebroken and crate-trained, but like many young pups, he had a bit of a late start
on some basic training. With the help of his foster family, he has already made tremendous
progress! While he has learned to stop stealing food and mostly stop jumping up to greet people,
he still grabs clothing on rare occasions – though this, too, is getting better with time and
patience.
Beasley has entered a confident stage where he has been testing boundaries to figure out just
what he’s allowed to do. Because of this, he needs an experienced, firm but kind owner who
can offer consistent leadership, clear expectations, and continued training. While he has made
major strides in learning and accepting his boundaries, he still occasionally tests. Children over
12 would be a good fit at this stage, although somewhat younger dog savvy children might also
do well.
Leash walking is still a work in progress, but Beasley’s highly food-motivated nature makes him
a quick learner. He is eager to please and ready to continue improving!
One thing to keep in mind is Beasley’s high prey drive – he has a strong instinct to chase small
animals, especially squirrels and chipmunks. For this reason, he would do best in a home
without small pets like cats, hamsters, or rabbits. Beasley has also shown some mild resource
guarding in the past with other dogs for high-value toys, but he’s not aggressive about it. This
appears to no longer be an issue for him.
Beasley did recently test positive for heartworm disease, and treatment has begun. PAWS will cover the cost of treatment at a partner vet until he is completely heartworm negative.
Beasley's ideal home would be one that understands his breed. He would thrive in a home with
children over 12 and another dog to keep him company. He would love a fenced yard, but this
is not a requirement. With continued training and lots of love, Beasley will be the perfect family
member.

IMPORTANT INFORMATION -
Paws New England is a foster-based rescue - our dogs reside in various locations throughout the south and New England.
Adoption donations cover pre-adoption vet costs (including vaccinations, spay/neuter when age appropriate, and heartworm testing/treatment when necessary), a microchip, and transportation to New England if necessary.
Donations for our young, healthy puppies and dogs support their fellow canines of advanced age or suffering from injuries and abuse whose donations are reduced but whose veterinary costs are typically much higher. We appreciate your understanding that your newly adopted dog will help others in need.
