Princessa Perfecta!!

Princessa's foster mom reports she has become quite the independent pup. She does great when left home alone, settling calmly without barking or trying to escape the crate. While she still prefers your company, she's comfortable enough to hang out alone in another room.

Directly from Princessa -
Likes & Dislikes:

Dislikes: Pesky squirrels! As the best squirrel patroller in town, I need to defend my yard and will bark at them until they leave.

Quirks:
I enjoy a bit of mouth play with my foster family's hands or arms. However, they prefer to give me a toy to play with instead, which I find fun too!
Housetrained & Crate Trained:

I am fully housetrained and crate-trained. I happily go to my crate to eat, have a snack, when I'm left alone, or when I need a time out to calm down.

Training:
I am currently working on a few things:
Leash Behavior: I am strong and may pull during walks. My foster mom stops walking until I ease up, and I'm learning to stay calm and move on when I get worked up. I need someone familiar with reactive dogs to help me continue this progress.

Reactivity: I can be reactive to other dogs when I'm on a leash or when they walk by the house. I'm okay if I'm at a safe distance and learning to control my reactions.

Jumping: Sometimes, I can't help but jump when I get excited, but I'm improving at controlling myself. I'm learning that sitting gets me more love than jumping!

Commands I Know:
Sit, down, here, touch, and crate. I'm very smart and pick up new things quickly.

Her prior history: I was a stray mama living on the streets of Memphis with my babies. These amazing people brought us off the streets. I hung out there for a little bit before coming to NE. I went to a training facility so I could work on my manners of pulling and jumping. Then, one day, this lady came and picked me up, and I have been living with her, her husband, and her 11-year-old son.

IMPORTANT INFORMATION -

Paws New England is a foster-based rescue - our dogs reside in various locations throughout the south and New England.

Adoption donations cover pre-adoption vet costs (including vaccinations, spay/neuter when age appropriate, and heartworm testing/treatment when necessary), a microchip, and transportation to New England if necessary.

Donations for our young, healthy puppies and dogs support their fellow canines of advanced age or suffering from injuries and abuse whose donations are reduced but whose veterinary costs are typically much higher. We appreciate your understanding that your newly adopted dog will help others in need.
