Meet Martina, a little Labby/Pittie girl of 1 year, 45 pounds, and unlimited love. Marina really is an ideal girl.

At one year, she’s still very young (so she will be with you for many years), but she is out of those most manic puppy days. During her stay with her foster family, she has learned basic commands. She is crate trained AND housetrained (that is the gift that never stops giving). She is still a little jump happy, so her new family will have to work with her on that. We do think she will settle down with calm discipline, routine, and a little age. We recommend her new family go through obedience training with her again as that is a great way to establish a bond with a new pup, and it will help the family recognize how she tells you she is hungry or needs to go outside.

Martina is a fantastic little learner - she learns quickly with food as her motivator. She will understand training if you want to continue training her for anything from K9 Good Citizen certification to agility. She loves her treats and will pay attention to anything if you tempt her!

Adopted as a puppy, she was returned recently as her family decided having a 4th dog was not a good idea. It took them a bit to make this decision because they loved her, but their dog pack decided that three was the limit. We think Marina could be an only dog, but we think she would thrive with canine siblings after proper introductions. Since she is fostering in New England, PAWS can arrange for a meet and greet to introduce her to any dogs you have in your home.

Because Martina is young and energetic with a desire to chase, we think she would prefer to be in a cat-free household. She loves children of all ages. Because she is a little jumpy, small children should probably be supervised to start with. She won’t bite or hurt them, but she will be determined to love on them up close and personal! Again, age and training should modify this behavior.

Martina walks well on a leash. She LOVES meeting new humans and considers every one of them her new best friend. She will be a neighborhood favorite in no time!

IMPORTANT INFORMATION -

Paws New England is a foster-based rescue - our dogs reside in various locations throughout the south and New England.

Adoption donations cover pre-adoption vet costs (including vaccinations, spay/neuter when age appropriate, and heartworm testing/treatment when necessary), a microchip, and transportation to New England if necessary.

Donations for our young, healthy puppies and dogs support their fellow canines of advanced age or suffering from injuries and abuse whose donations are reduced but whose veterinary costs are typically much higher. We appreciate your understanding that your newly adopted dog will help others in need.
