Please allow us to introduce you to Stella, a beautiful and wonderfully smart girl who is in the market for a forever home. Stella has been with her foster mom for about a month and has already learned several commands, and her recall skills have improved significantly. She’s still working on her leash manners (GOTTA SNIFF THAT SQUIRREL, AND THAT ONE, AND THAT ONE, AND THAT ONE), but we have no doubt she will succeed with people who are patient and willing to work with her and remind her that she, in fact, does not always run the show.

In addition to being stunning and brilliant, Stella is an absolute riot. She loves playing with toys, chasing her tail (yes, seriously), and partying with dogs of all sizes. Stella has done exceptionally well at the dog park and easily picks up on social cues. She also enjoys hiking and going on jogs with her foster mom, and we suspect she’d probably be a fan of swimming given the chance.

Stella is housetrained and can be left alone for extended periods, but she enjoys having someone stop by to visit her during the day. Her foster mom does not crate her, but Stella does well in a crate if need be. If you put the blinds up before you leave the house, she’s happy and will entertain herself by patrolling the neighborhood from the windows (it’s a thankless job).

Above all, Stella needs structure and exercise, and mental stimulation. She would thrive in a home with another dog, or a home where she can take regular trips to the dog park or attend doggy daycare – she can’t help that she’s a social butterfly.

While Stella is good with kids, she’s a bit too enthusiastic for the little ones. Her foster mom’s downstairs neighbor has a cat, and Stella’s response has mostly been “meh,” but we can’t say for sure how she would do in a home with a cat. And, given her obsession with squirrels, we’re inclined to think there might be a learning curve, but it’s not necessarily a deal breaker.

Stella is still learning some of the basics, and she won’t always be easy to deal with, but she is beyond worth it. She’ll push your buttons sometimes, but she will always snuggle with you at the end of the day. If you’re lucky, she might even stick her silly nose right in your ear, out of nowhere, like it’s a totally normal thing to do. Mostly, she’s happy to fall asleep on your lap, with her big goofy ears twitching while she dreams.

Stella is 100% ride or die and will be deeply loyal to the lucky family that adopts her. Stella is ready to start the next chapter of her life, and she’s going to absolutely crush it.

IMPORTANT INFORMATION:

Paws New England is a foster-based rescue - our dogs reside in various locations throughout the south and New England.

Adoption donations cover pre-adoption vet costs (including vaccinations, spay/neuter when age appropriate, and heartworm testing/treatment when necessary), a microchip, and transportation to New England if necessary.

Donations for our young, healthy puppies and dogs support their fellow canines of advanced age or suffering from injuries and abuse whose donations are reduced but whose veterinary costs are typically much higher. We appreciate your understanding that your newly adopted dog will help others in need
