Percy, Percy, Percy - a story of survival for sure.

Percy was found emaciated and starving in the hot Memphis weather. Despite being blind/nearly blind, he survived on the mean streets of Memphis, which is beyond imagination. The vet believes he has been blind since birth and described him as a gentle boy during the exam.

Percy initially went to a southern foster home, where he flourished. This boy is now at his New England foster home and doing wonderfully. He learned the layout of his foster home in just a couple of days—he will do that again. It’s incredible how quickly they learn.

He is wonderful with all humans but cannot live with other dogs. Cats are unknown, but we suspect they’re not on his list of potential friends.

This guy is super food motivated, which is helping his foster mom work with him on some training. They are working on basic commands, including leash walking, and he’s catching on fast.

He loves squeaky toys, and his foster mom loves tossing them around the room so he’ll find them.

Percy loves to be touched and is super happy to hang out cuddled up with you.

His Foster mom is working on crate training. He will go in and sleep there (for safety, as he’s blind) if you throw a treat in to make it worth his while.

He does make what his foster mom says is the cutest noise when he’s in his crate, and he knows you’re close by—after all, he wants to be with humans! Once it gets quiet, he’s out like a light.

This delightful boy will make someone(s) an amazing friend and companion. He learns his surroundings quickly and is truly a happy dog.

It’s hard to tell in his photos but he’s actually petite - he has “shortess” legs! So cute in person!

Donations for our young, healthy puppies and dogs support their fellow canines of advanced age or suffering from injuries and abuse whose donations are reduced but whose veterinary costs are typically much higher. We appreciate your understanding that your newly adopted dog will help others in need.
