Sweet senior Howard!

He’s approx 9 years old and a whopping 9 lbs.  He landed in foster care when his older mom passed away.

A good old boy who landed in a great foster home who has cared for him and just loves him to pieces but they know he should be in a home of his own.  He does well in the chaos of his foster mom’s house but we’d like to see him in a more calm atmosphere.

The vet who has cared for him and did his dental took him home for the night as the foster was not going to be available - she helped write this bio!!!

Howard is the sweetest boy!  he is all that is good about Chihuahuas - a sweet small package with the cutest trot who loves to cuddle.  Howard has zero inclination to bite, when while being held with another hand coming towards his face.  He is nonreactive with other dogs, not even a lip raised.

Howard does all his business outside.

He does need to be on lifelong heart medication (Vetmedin).  The dosage may go down if he loses a little bit of weight which he desperately need to do.  Howard was recently diagnosed with a mast cell tumor that was removed from his scrotum, a Grade II; unfortunately the margins were not clean and thus they feel that the best course is to let him live his life - we just can’t guarantee his future.

He’s going to make someone super happy!

Well that coming from a vet sure does bode well for his future family.   He had a dental where he lost 3 teeth but they are otherwise in good condition.

He arrives to New England on 4/6 - we hope you’re awaiting his arrival!

IMPORTANT INFORMATION -

Paws New England is a foster-based rescue - our dogs reside in various locations throughout the south and New England.

Adoption donations cover pre-adoption vet costs (including vaccinations, spay/neuter when age appropriate, and heartworm testing/treatment when necessary), a microchip, and transportation to New England if necessary.

Donations for our young, healthy puppies and dogs support their fellow canines of advanced age or suffering from injuries and abuse whose donations are reduced but whose veterinary costs are typically much higher. We appreciate your understanding that your newly adopted dog will help others in need.
