Roo was found in an abandoned apartment complex in Memphis, she had her eight 6 week old puppies safe and sound in a depression in the ground under some old tires and furniture. She had been getting fed and watered by a kind woman in the neighborhood for four to five years, likely having many litters of puppies over time in the brutal Southern heat and winters. She and her eight puppies were saved and brought to her fosters 2 years ago where she remains today.

Roo understandably had major trust issues with humans, but has really come out of her shell. She loves her pack of resident/foster dogs (including her son who became our first foster fail), has become much more social with her foster family and with frequent visitors. She has zero interest in cats, she would do well as an only child or with other furkids.

She has waited over two years for her forever home to live out her years, she has come so far in that time. She walks well on the lead, but has not been tested extensively around busy streets. She has not been keen on crate training, but will stay in one place on her favorite couch or chair all night long.

This semi-senior girl - perfection!

IMPORTANT INFORMATION -

Paws New England is a foster-based rescue - our dogs reside in various locations throughout the south and New England.

Adoption donations cover pre-adoption vet costs (including vaccinations, spay/neuter when age appropriate, and heartworm testing/treatment when necessary), a microchip, and transportation to New England if necessary.

Donations for our young, healthy puppies and dogs support their fellow canines of advanced age or suffering from injuries and abuse whose donations are reduced but whose veterinary costs are typically much higher. We appreciate your understanding that your newly adopted dog will help others in need.
