Look at the freckled ears!

Penney is a happy-go-lucky sweet girl who landed with us after we participated in a Bissell Pet Foundation rescue - she came from Louisiana with her brother Snowball - he’s been adopted, and now it’s her turn.

After arriving in New England, it was noticed that Penney had a “weird” gait when walking and when standing some times her hind legs would just slip out - it was enough of a concern that her foster reached out and we were able to get her into a neurologist quickly.

After testing, the neurologist was perplexed but thought this might be from canine neospora, a parasite, that resides in the cerebellum. She was put on an antibiotic that works against the parasite and she has shown a lot of improvement. At her last visit, it was noted that her gait was much more normal and her foster mom has noted the same. At this point, it’s felt no further treatment is needed and as long as she continues to do well, there’s no reason for concern.

Penney loves other dogs - foster mom just got another foster in the house and Penney was in love instantly (see video).

She’s housetrained, crates well and is just an absolute delight.

Don’t let her prior diagnosis scare you - we will of course provide all records for you/your vet’s review if you’d like You don’t want to miss out on this little girl!!

Paws New England is a foster-based rescue - our dogs reside in various locations throughout the south and New England.

Adoption donations cover pre-adoption vet costs (including vaccinations, spay/neuter when age appropriate, and heartworm testing/treatment when necessary), a microchip, and transportation to New England if necessary.

Donations for our young, healthy puppies and dogs support their fellow canines of advanced age or suffering from injuries and abuse whose donations are reduced but whose veterinary costs are typically much higher. We appreciate your understanding that your newly adopted dog will help others in need.
