Meet Silkie, part of our chicken themed litter and now local!! One more adorable than another!
An even split – four girls (Silkie, Frizzle, Weisummer, and Amberlink) & four boys (Cochin, Brahma, Barred Rock and Marans)

Silkie can’t wait to meet you and give you a big puppy hug and kiss. She is absolutely certain that
1) everybody is a friend she hasn’t met yet
2) snuggling her will make you happier.
She promises to try and be the best girl.

One of our dedicated southern rescues had been feeding their mama Rosa (picture of her posted) and monitoring her precious family. Extreme cold temps were on the horizon and they became concerned.
This family was finally humanely trapped on a cold night. A foster was already in place to house them.
All went from freezing to toasty in no time and just thrived in their southern foster home and now in New England.

Silkie has been with her New England foster family for a couple of weeks and she is reported to be a very “chill” puppy. She is more than happy to hang out on anything soft and cozy while the humans do their human things.

She sleeps in her crate through the night and thankfully she prefers puppy teething toys over human accessories like stuffed animals and shoes (which are in abundance in a foster house with three children).
She arrived local having never been on a leash, but now happily goes on long walks with her foster brother.
When her humans adhere with her potty training schedule she is a very good girl, although she is not a huge fan of going out in cold rain (who is?!).

Silkie loves everybody and would do great in most situations. She is currently living with kids and loves them, but she also walked by a construction site yesterday and tried to go join the workers and boost their morale.
She gets along great with other dogs but would also be fine as a solo spoiled princess.
She would love to share love with anybody looking for it, as long as there is a comfy bed as part of the deal….no biggie there!

Whoever adopts Silkie will win the puppy lottery for sure and she can’t wait to meet you!

PLEASE - Think long and hard before adopting a puppy - consider the lifestyle change this puppy will come with - he cannot be crated for more than 3-4 hours at a time until he’s older, puppy proofing your home will be necessary, puppies scratch and nip so if you have small children, can they handle this?? Training will be so important in this puppy’s life, do you have the time??

Please consider purchasing this book before adopting.  Perfect Puppy in 7 Days - How to Start Your Puppy Off Right, Sophia Yin, DVM - it is an amazing book that we recommend very highly and have had amazing feedback on.

IMPORTANT INFORMATION -

Paws New England is a foster-based rescue - our dogs reside in various locations throughout the south and New England.

Adoption donations cover pre-adoption vet costs (including vaccinations, spay/neuter when age appropriate, and heartworm testing/treatment when necessary), a microchip, and transportation to New England if necessary.

Donations for our young, healthy puppies and dogs support their fellow canines of advanced age or suffering from injuries and abuse whose donations are reduced but whose veterinary costs are typically much higher. We appreciate your understanding that your newly adopted dog will help others in need.
