Look at this gorgeous girl. She is full of life and ready to find her family.

When Hattie was taken into rescue, it was thought she was blind due to some strange head tilting and movements. She was to be placed in a rescue that takes in blind dogs. Upon having her vision checked, it was found that Hattie had no visual deficits. An MRI followed, and it was determined there is a well-defined, left-sided thalamic lesion. There are no treatment recommendations, and this is not expected to get better or worse. Due to this, Hattie tends to look off to the right as if in a gaze. She also spins to the right when she encounters new people or gets very excited, like when the water hose is on. Since mom dog attempted to bury Hattie at birth, the assumption is made that she was born with this abnormality, and mom dog was trying to move her away from the litter, instinctively knowing that something was wrong. Luckily for Hattie she was recused!

She loves to play with larger dogs, and her current bestie is a female dog who is her size. Hattie can be a bit rough for small dogs but is in no way aggressive toward them, just intimidating. Hattie loves running the fence line with the neighbor’s dogs as well. Hattie has been to doggie daycare and loves to play. She loves her toys and can be somewhat possessive of them. She walks well on a leash but still pulls some. She rides fine in a car and does well in a crate.

Hattie’s perfect home would be one with another large dog or a young couple who is very active. She loves to run and play!

Donations for our young, healthy puppies and dogs support their fellow canines of advanced age or suffering from injuries and abuse whose donations are reduced but whose veterinary costs are typically much higher. We appreciate your understanding that your newly adopted dog will help others in need.
