Dora is a very sweet, smart, easy dog. She has very short fur but it is oh so soft…..you could just pet her all day. She has quickly learned being a loved house dog is just so wonderful!

Dear Dora was dumped at the Red River bottoms in TX and caught in a hog trap on Thanksgiving Day.

Her foster family adores her. She has never pottied in the house. She loves the cat, and their dog.
She is fine with their dog-savvy grandchild. They play tug of war. (see video)
Dora does try to “herd’ and lovingly nips her little BFF, but she has a soft mouth. Foster family is working on deterring that behavior.

Dora crates well. She might whine a bit at first, but quickly settles. Her whining has gotten less and less as she’s gained more confidence. Foster mom has let her sleep with her a couple of times and she will actually takes a nap with her grandchild. She crates herself for bedtime and hangs out some during the day.
She has been left by herself and uncrated for a few hours with no problem. She also can be trusted in the fenced yard with the doggie door open when everyone is home.
Her leash training is going great.

She’s very social, but needs a little time to get used to new people. Once you are a “regular”, she is your dearest friend.
Her activity level is medium but she has gotten so much more playful as of late!

Dora does not do well in a car and gets nauseous, so only essential trips or premedication will be needed.

Dora is very food motivated, which is great for training!! She is very much in favor of human yummies, so watch out…she will clean your floor, and counters.

Please consider this brindle beauty to be your new family member; she is really just a great all around pooch!!

Adoption donations cover pre-adoption vet costs (including vaccinations, spay/neuter when age appropriate, and heartworm testing/treatment when necessary), a microchip, and transportation to New England if necessary.

Donations for our young, healthy puppies and dogs support their fellow canines of advanced age or suffering from injuries and abuse whose donations are reduced but whose veterinary costs are typically much higher. We appreciate your understanding that your newly adopted dog will help others in need.
