Big Ike
Age: Adult
Gender: Male
Breeds: American Bulldog, Crossbreed
Hi, my name is Ike or “Big Ike” to my friends. I am what the southern folk call a “southern gentlemen”, I am calm, laid back and well mannered. I love everyone I meet and I am also a very smart boy because I knew just who to follow home when I was lost.
I’m currently living on a small farm, so I’ve never been in a crate except to ride in a car and I did fine. I love to ride, I load up perfectly, no car sickness or anything. I will need commitment to help transition me from my current lifestyle to one with family, love and attention. I am eager to please and interact with people in an indoor, home environment. I would make a good trail dog as I love to go on walks and explore my surroundings. I have learned to walk on a leash using a gentle leader, since I still pulled some.

I live around outdoor kitties and I basically ignore them, but I would need to be with a cat that is dog savy as I can be rough when I play.
There are no kiddies in my foster home, but I am great with everyone I meet out in public, including kids.

I need a home with a tall fence as I have climbed out of the one on the farm a few times, I don’t run away when on the outside but my foster mom tells me its not a good thing to do. I just get board with out some attention and I always get some attention when I climb out!!!
I had to stay somewhat quiet in the Texas heat because of recent heartworm treatment, but my treatment is now done, so I can start to play again!!! I would love to have a young active family who would make sure I get plenty of exercise.
Neither my foster mom nor my trainer have seen any anxiety, I’m just a calm, chill, and handsome boy (so everyone says!) that is just so eager to please.

Donations for our young, healthy puppies and dogs support their fellow canines of advanced age or suffering from injuries and abuse whose donations are reduced but whose veterinary costs are typically much higher. We appreciate your understanding that your newly adopted dog will help others in need.
