DeeDee was the biggest pup in her litter. Her brother and both of her sisters have already been adopted, but this precious girl still needs a forever home.

DeeDee has come a long way and has really bloomed as of late. When she first arrived at her foster mom’s home as a puppy, she was scared to death of humans. Now, after eight months, she is an excellent little house dog who loves everyone. She loves her foster mom’s cat, her big dog, other adult family members, and the resident three-year-old (especially the three-year-old and the cat). DeeDee will bark at new people until she gets to know them. She is crated when new people visit, and she hushes. She crates easily and either naps or hangs out while checking out the visitors. Once she knows and trusts you, she loves you.

DeeDee’s foster thinks having a doggie sibling would be very good for DeeDee. DeeDee has been around dogs and puppies of all sizes, and once she knows and trusts them, she loves them. She needs slow introductions with some time and space when meeting other dogs. It can take a day or more before she feels comfortable. She will show her front teeth as a warning to them to stay back. She is submissive and will retreat if given space. She is living with other dogs at her foster home, but slow introductions are a must.

Dee will take advantage of any way she sees to get out of her foster mom’s house and yard. Dee is skittish, loves to run, and has barely any recall, so a fenced yard would be a plus. Foster reports that she does pretty well on a leash unless she sees a squirrel!

She has shown no food aggression or resource guarding. She gets excited when it’s time to eat and dances to the song her foster sings to her at feeding time.

DeeDee loves belly rubs and snuggling. She loves to play tug-a-war with her foster siblings. Yummy treats are on her list of likes, too. Her perfect home would be one that would be one with lots of love and willingness to continue puppy training to make her the best family member possible.

She is an excellent little dog and, with patience and love, she will continue to be the best girl ever!

She is always interested in a ball, a fun game of tug-o-war, a good chase with the other puppies or just playing in water.

PLEASE - Think long and hard before adopting a puppy - consider the lifestyle change this puppy will come with - he cannot be crated for more than 3-4 hours at a time until he’s older, puppy proofing your home will be necessary, puppies scratch and nip so if you have small children, can they handle this?? Training will be so important in this puppy’s life, do you have the time??

Please consider purchasing this book before adopting.  Perfect Puppy in 7 Days - How to Start Your Puppy Off Right, Sophia Yin, DVM - it is an amazing book that we recommend very highly and have had amazing feedback on.

IMPORTANT INFORMATION -

Paws New England is a foster-based rescue - our dogs reside in various locations throughout the south and New England.

Adoption donations cover pre-adoption vet costs (including vaccinations, spay/neuter when age appropriate, and heartworm testing/treatment when necessary), a microchip, and transportation to New England if necessary.

Donations for our young, healthy puppies and dogs support their fellow canines of advanced age or suffering from injuries and abuse whose donations are reduced but whose veterinary costs are typically much higher. We appreciate your understanding that your newly adopted dog will help others in need.
