Sweet Senior Rattie Girl - Special Needs

Hady landed at a Memphis shelter after being found as a stray - imagine, 14 years old, small and on your own….

The shelter staff guess an age of 14 years or so, confirmed by a veterinarian but as always this is just a guess.

When found, her overall condition was pretty satisfactory for a stray dog - she had been spayed and it turns out she is heartworm negative; we think this girl had someone(s) who loved her - sadly no one claimed her so she’s ours now.

Once in our care, she went to a vet for an exam for a UTI and we thought maybe bladder stones but as it turns out she has an early onset cancer in her bladder, untreatable.

After a few weeks of attentive care, she is a happy, easy going dog. Extremely smart, she quickly caught on to the routine in the foster home, especially meal time.

She loves chew toys, naps, and cuddles with her foster mom.

The mass in her bladder causes her to need frequent potty breaks. She’s house trained and wants outside when she feels the urge to go. She wears protective garments without complaint but still wants to go out.

She has started medication to help with bladder inflammation and discomfort.

Hady still has time to enjoy life with someone who understands older dogs and patient enough to attend her needs.

She’s comfortable around other dogs but can live without them too if you’d like to spoil her - no cats for this girl!

IMPORTANT INFORMATION -

Paws New England is a foster-based rescue - our dogs reside in various locations throughout the south and New England.

Adoption donations cover pre-adoption vet costs (including vaccinations, spay/neuter when age appropriate, and heartworm testing/treatment when necessary), a microchip, and transportation to New England if necessary.

Donations for our young, healthy puppies and dogs support their fellow canines of advanced age or suffering from injuries and abuse whose donations are reduced but whose veterinary costs are typically much higher. We appreciate your understanding that your newly adopted dog will help others in need.
