Are you a chicken?
No, we aren’t asking you if you are nervous or scared. We are asking if you are an actual chicken (Scientific name: Gallus gallus domesticus).

If so, please back out and click on another pup. If not? Continue reading!

Meet Olive! This 1 year old, 49 pound Black Lab/ German Shepherd mix is a high energy, tongue out ball of silliness ready to pounce into your heart and your home! Her foster has known Olive her whole life as Olive’s sister is a member of one of our southern Rockstar foster mom’s Pack!

Olive’s one weakness? Chickens. In her first home, out of boredom, she chased the farm chickens, and she caught a few. It didn’t end well for them. While Olive is a working breed dog, we don’t think farm work is in her future. We do think she’d be happy with other kinds of work like agility or would enjoy hiking, playing fetch, or just going for walks around the neighborhood or a park. She is smart and young, and she needs something to occupy her mind as well as draining her physical energy.

This girl is still quite puppyish, so will need some training and a clear, consistent schedule in order to be her best self. She would love a yard to play in. She is still quite jumpy and most likely able to scale a fence (she hasn’t really tried, but she COULD), so she shouldn’t be left outside unsupervised.

Other than her penchant for chickens, this girl is the total package! She’s very social with other dogs and has lived with children as young as 4! While she has a sweet and giddy personality, she IS still a rambunctious puppy in many ways, so she will jump from excitement.

Olive is excellent on the leash and loves to say hi to other dogs and people. She shares toys well. When you take her bowl away or a toy, she assumes a “sit” position.
She rides freely (and well) in the car and would love to be someone’s adventure buddy. She’s housetrained too! Currently, she rings the bells on her foster mom’s door to let everyone knows she needs to go out.
Olive can be crated for short periods of time. She whines a little at first, but she settles in nicely, sleeps well overnight and has not had any accidents in her crate.

Olive loves playing hard and then curling up with her people and her canine siblings. She is eager to please and be your new best friend!

But, seriously, if you are a domestic chicken, don’t try to be a hero. We will find you a soulmate pup. It just can’t be Olive.
