Sadie Mae hitched her ride North and is now fostering in New England!!!

She was fabulous mom to her babies who are all adopted - she was diagnosed with an extremely severe care of heartworm and we were told by one vet that she should be a “hospice” case as she’d never survive treatment. Given the fact we don’t believe anyone who says something can’t be made better by at least trying we proceeded with treatment slowly and over an extended period of time. Had we not treated her, she would have died w/o question.

She has completed her treatment and is READY to find her forever home!

Sadie is a bit tentative at first with new people but by the second day with a temporary foster (her foster mom was away) she was wiggling tail and meeting her at the door - she was out on leash w/o zero issues and met other dogs and did just fine.

Look how great she is on a leash:

Sadie would do well with another happy dog to hang with.

Because of her long course of steroids and heartworm treatment, she is a tad overweight - her foster is working with her to get back in shape!

Prior History:
Sadie was a stray for a couple of years in the area she used to live with her owner. Her owner passed away and no family members wanted her, so she just wandered the area with other stray dogs.

A kind off duty police officer fed Sadie and her street mates. He then realized that she was pregnant and reached out for help. While this was being coordinated, Sadie had her pups! This family was quickly located near a fence line. Mama Sadie had actually dug a hole for her babies to lay. The temps started to drop, so time was of the essence. Sadie and her pups were then immediately taken to a loving and warm foster home.

Sometimes she looks at her foster mom with a puzzled look, like she cannot believe the blankets and beds and food are really for her!! It is just so heartwarming to see.

Sadie will make an awesome companion. She she will be so very grateful for all the love and care a forever home will give her.

Donations for our young, healthy puppies and dogs support their fellow canines of advanced age or suffering from injuries and abuse whose donations are reduced but whose veterinary costs are typically much higher. We appreciate your understanding that your newly adopted dog will help others in need.
