Tiger is a ball of personality. He is the most affectionate little man who loves being with his people. He is a bundle of energy that needs its outlet either in the form of a dog larger than him (though not so large that he risks getting hurt, because he plays ROUGH) or a very active human– think hikes, long walks, swimming, etc. Because he plays rough with both dogs and humans, we do not want to take any chances with any young children getting hurt. Likewise, he should not be in a home with dogs smaller than he is. A fenced yard is a must for him to play in and get his energy out, unless you have another option for safe play with another dog and are prepared to plan lots of activities with other dogs in other fenced areas or hikes or runs. Tiger’s one little flaw is that he gets super overwhelmed and anxious on leash when other people and dogs approach. Off-leash, he’s a love with new people and wants to play with every dog. As such, Tiger needs someone who is willing to work with him to calm his leash reactivity. He is currently on anti-anxiety medication which has calmed him a bit. But training and active leash work with him will be the thing that really makes a difference. It might be best for him not to be walked in places with large numbers of dogs at first, until some improvement is made. But he is smart and food motivated, which makes him easy to train. Experienced dog owners with this particular issue is a huge bonus, because, as they say, you’re really training the owner, not the dog! Tiger is fostering in New England and is ready to meet you!

Donations for our young, healthy puppies and dogs support their fellow canines of advanced age or suffering from injuries and abuse whose donations are reduced but whose veterinary costs are typically much higher. We appreciate your understanding that your newly adopted dog will help others in need.
