Callie is coming to us from a local friend who adopted her from Arkansas - she absolutely adores her and tells us she’s the sweetest animal - calm, quiet and just happy to go about some walks and be your best friend. The only problem - she was told Callie was cat friendly and she is not…. adopter’s cat is 14 years old and the stress on her is too worrisome so she’s asked for help finding this girl a new home.
Callie came into rescue as a stray in Little Rock with a bilateral lower limb deformity which has been corrected but with a resultant limp and potential arthritis. We are currently having this evaluated by an orthopedic surgeon in New England to see if a better end result can be achieved - we would of course cover the surgical procedures - but we’d love for her to be settled in her new home with people who love her and will help her get through surgery. A big ask, sure, but she’s worth it.
Callie is approximately 2 years old with the most sweet disposition. She loves the sun and basking in it anywhere she can. Loves loves her Kong especially when it has something good stuffed in there.
Her favorite snacks include: carrots, green beans, bananas, and basically any dog treats she can get her paws on. She is an expert-level snuggler on the couch in the evening, she’ll happily let you choose what to watch on tv, and sits quietly all day next to your desk snoring through Zoom meetings and calls.
Callie is low energy and would love to be your work-from-home buddy. She still does have a teensy bit of puppy energy in that she jumps up when excited, but she settles quickly with correction and mostly just wants to make sure you give her belly rubs.
She is good with other dogs after proper introductions though she is not good with cats. She gets excited to see dogs on leash - as in “let’s go meet them all” so you need to watch her when on leash - she’s a social girl.
Lastly, she absolutely loves car rides and wants to go wherever you’re going.
We hope you’ll consider this angel - she’s had it rough traveling around with her legs in the condition they were but now has the time to relax and enjoy her new life. If further correction can be done on her front legs we will seek to have it done - if it won’t be helpful, she will remain happy, walk a bit slower and maybe not as far but will have people loving her and keeping her as healthy as possible.
