Ruby was picked up as a stray with Pearlene ( also listed with PNE), and they were initially believed to be litter mates until the vet determined they were different ages.

She is very fast when chasing and playing with Pearlene. She is also light and agile on her feet. She has even ridden on 4 wheeler with her foster Mom. Foster Mom feels she would love an older child to play with and who she can share her adventures with.

She likes playing fetch with a tennis ball and will actually bring the ball back to please you. She loves water and will submerge her head in the water bowl or doggy pool on hot days. Might dig some in the yard when bored.

She is very submissive to Mom’s other dogs and has shown no aggression. Ruby has been left in the yard with her foster Mom’s personal dogs and they played well together. She has not be introduced to cats yet.

Ruby will sit on command and walks well on a leash. She will sit for her food, and although she does not beg for treats, she responds well to treats.
Ruby catches on quickly and has a great capacity for learning and a desire to please you. She is currently working on “down.”
She will get in the pen on command and crates well. She likes riding in the car and has not had any accidents in the car or the crate

Ruby has not shown any anxiety and has not destroyed anything, but fosters are never left alone in the house.

Ruby is a smart and playful dog. She is very observant and alert to what is going on around her. She loves to get in your lap but is very content to lay at your feet and watch what is going on. She is loves to play and she loves to cuddle.

IMPORTANT INFORMATION -

Paws New England is a foster-based rescue - our dogs reside in various locations throughout the south and New England.

Adoption donations cover pre-adoption vet costs (including vaccinations, spay/neuter when age appropriate, and heartworm testing/treatment when necessary), a microchip, and transportation to New England if necessary.

Donations for our young, healthy puppies and dogs support their fellow canines of advanced age or suffering from injuries and abuse whose donations are reduced but whose veterinary costs are typically much higher. We appreciate your understanding that your newly adopted dog will help others in need.
