Fostering in New England -

Clara is one of those dogs who is nearly perfect - she will hike with you, go for long walks in the woods with you and your dogs and thoroughly enjoy herself. Then she will go home and help you relax with her head on your lap or snuggled up on the couch - she can do both. She will fit right in seamlessly with you and your family. Truly a great dog.

Her foster family has done a great job working with her on basic manners.

We have learned that Clara does not like sharing her food or toys with other dogs - unless you’re experienced with resource guarding we suggest she be an only dog BUT she is able to go out to meet dogs, play with them, etc. Dog walkers are fine, daycare would be fine.

Clara adjusted in two seconds to her new foster home and fit right in with her foster siblings - she is going on hikes and having a blast! She definitely needs a good amount of exercise to wear out all that beagle energy and curiousness….busy, busy, busy.

Clara is very treat motivated and trainable. She now crates really well- can be in the same room snoozing without any fussing!!

She is progressing well with leash training, but of course, has her nose to the ground taking her in many directions.

A fenced yard is highly recommended for her to be able to run and sniff to her hearts content. No invisible fencing for this girl. After all, she is a hound!!

This beautiful gal will be such a welcomed addition to her adopter!!!

IMPORTANT INFORMATION -

Paws New England is a foster-based rescue - our dogs reside in various locations throughout the south and New England.

Adoption donations cover pre-adoption vet costs (including vaccinations, spay/neuter when age appropriate, and heartworm testing/treatment when necessary), a microchip, and transportation to New England if necessary.

Donations for our young, healthy puppies and dogs support their fellow canines of advanced age or suffering from injuries and abuse whose donations are reduced but whose veterinary costs are typically much higher. We appreciate your understanding that your newly adopted dog will help others in need.
