Meet the getaway weekend puppies. Mom is a Pyrenees mix from the Texarkana area. Based on physical characteristics, we believe the Puppy Daddy was an Australian Shepherd.

These puppies came to our rescue while our rescue partner Miss Dawn was on a getaway weekend in Galveston. Let’s face it, getaway weekend or not, a rescuer does not turn off their phone. A woman from Houston reached out on behalf of her 80+ year-old parents. Her parents lived near Miss Dawn outside of Texarkana.

The woman’s parents were kind animal lovers. A neighbor took advantage of their good nature and left mom and four puppies with the 80-year-old couple. They needed help. Miss Dawn agreed to pick up the puppies on her way home. As Rescue advocates, we help dogs and people in need.

Now that you know their story. Let me tell you about these puppies! First, they’re going to be big. Although we have limited knowledge of their family tree, they are working dogs. Working dogs love to keep busy. They do best in homes with fenced-in yards and families with the time for exercise and structured training. They love to wrestle, play tug, roll in the mud, and get belly rubs. They have all the qualities to make wonderful companions for active families.

If you lead an active lifestyle and have the time and commitment to providing exercise and training, these babies are waiting to catch a ride to New England and move in with you.

PLEASE - Think long and hard before adopting a puppy - consider the lifestyle change this puppy will come with - he cannot be crated for more than 3-4 hours at a time until he’s older, puppy proofing your home will be necessary, puppies scratch and nip so if you have small children, can they handle this?? Training will be so important in this puppy’s life, do you have the time??

Please review this checklist for socializing puppies - do you have the time - ask yourself before adopting.

IMPORTANT INFORMATION -

Paws New England is a foster-based rescue - our dogs reside in various locations throughout the south and New England.

Adoption donations cover pre-adoption vet costs (including vaccinations, spay/neuter when age appropriate, and heartworm testing/treatment when necessary), a microchip, and transportation to New England if necessary.

Donations for our young, healthy puppies and dogs support their fellow canines of advanced age or suffering from injuries and abuse whose donations are reduced but whose veterinary costs are typically much higher. We appreciate your understanding that your newly adopted dog will help others in need.
