This lucky dog has been spending some time with amazing trainers at The Champion Farm where he’s learning how fun it is to be a dog again - so far he’s doing great and they think he’s an amazing pup.
This guy was left in boarding by another group and was failed by several people - months of boarding with no enrichment takes a toll on any dog including Toto - when he was sprung he was still a good boy but overly excitable and socially “weird.” That is all going out the window now that he’s been with the awesome crew at the FARM!
Here’s the update form the trainer at Champion -
Toto thrived during his time at camp from day one. He immediately enjoyed all the activities. He learned to be around all the farm animals on day one. His off leash training was extremely successful. When on leash Toto may need to be occasionally corrected as he gets easily excited. Toto loves people and other dogs.
He does not like to be in “trouble” and wants to please everyone. Toto would do well with other dogs in his forever home.
His future fosters/adopters should remember to praise him when he is calm and correct him with the command “stop” when he is excited. We originally believed Toto was a high energy dog, but this is not the case. Toto is what we call “busy”. He likes to explore and wander. He struggled to relax with the rest of the pack. After a few days he finally settled down. In order to maintain this important part of his training we encourage future fosters/adopters to only give Toto attention when he is relaxed.
Toto is still learning how to be a dog. He is not necessarily high energy, but he is very busy. He is learning a lot of new things while at the farm such as socialization, leash training, off leash training, and basic obedience. He is progressing quickly. He is good with other dogs, but may need to be redirected. He accepts redirection well. He is wonderful with people. He over reacts to high energy, so it is better if people are calm around him. He is very intelligent and could go far in his training. He does well in the house, kennel, and outside.
He warms up quickly to new people.
if you are committed to offer this boy the structure and training that he has lacked in his short life, you will be rewarded with an amazing companion.
Toto is truly a great dog and would love to be yours!
