Belle is a very sweet dog who loves, loves attention. Her foster calls Belle her Velcro dog because she follows her everywhere.

Belle was picked up from a road in rural area in Tennessee. She was placed in boarding, no one claimed her and our southern rescuers eventually found her a foster, with whom she now just adores.

Foster mom noted that she frequently developed a cough when she became active. Upon further investigation and evaluation, it was found that she had a defect in her heart which was causing this cough when she exerted herself. Medication was prescribed and activity restrictions given. The cardiologist from Nashville stated that Belle will self limit her activity based upon how she feels. With medication and proper care, she should live a fairly good life although it may be shortened some. We obviously have all the information to provide any adopter.

Belle is timid so she will need more of a laid back home. She takes time to adjust and warm up to unfamiliar situations. She would do okay as an only dog, but would also do well in a home with a confidant low energy dog whose lead she could follow. She doesn’t play all that much.

We also strongly feel that this special girl needs an adopter who is home most of the day, as she does have some separation anxiety. This has improved, but she also just adores the consistent company of her person, so it is a win-win.

This girl is housebroken, and crate trained. She is crated with a chew toy (her favorite!!) when left alone. She even goes in her crate on her own so the door is left open.

Belle is a bit of a talker and will “growl-talk” to you when she wants attention, but foster assures us that she does not have an aggressive bone in her body.

She loves to go for short walks, is good on a leash and rides great in the car. She gets along with all dogs and has no issues with cats. She is actually a little afraid of them. We are saying only older kids for this girl due to her nature and cardiac condition.

Belle is just a precious dog that is truly grateful for any love and attention that you give her. Are you able to offer her the peaceful loving home she so deserves?

IMPORTANT INFORMATION -

Paws New England is a foster-based rescue - our dogs reside in various locations throughout the south and New England.

Adoption donations cover pre-adoption vet costs (including vaccinations, spay/neuter when age appropriate, and heartworm testing/treatment when necessary), a microchip, and transportation to New England if necessary.

Donations for our young, healthy puppies and dogs support their fellow canines of advanced age or suffering from injuries and abuse whose donations are reduced but whose veterinary costs are typically much higher. We appreciate your understanding that your newly adopted dog will help others in need.
