NOW FOSTERING IN NEW ENGLAND

Here’s Ranger Rover, a nine month old black lab/wirehaired terrier mix from our partners at Tipton County Paws & Claws, an amazing group that works with the local rural shelters to help get dogs out of rough situations and into new homes.

Ranger had a rough start to his life, spending much of his time in a shelter with his siblings, and still has some residual fear about new situations. His ideal family will be patient and work with him to help him come out of his shell and they will be rewarded with a goofy, loveable puppy who loves to play with toys.

Ranger is never going to be a leading man in a movie – he’s definitely more of a character actor type- but who doesn’t love Steve Buscemi? If you are out on the town to the latest hot spot each night or hosting fabulous dinner parties for 50 of your closest friends every week, keep scrolling to find another dog, because Ranger is not the puppy for you.
Ranger is much happier chilling in the house, watching Columbo reruns and hoping you drop some popcorn for him to steal. He loves walks around his foster family’s neighborhood and they are helping him expand his boundaries each time they meet new people on the trail.

Once the introduction period is over, Ranger will make himself right at home. He’d love a friend around the same size as he is or slightly smaller and hopefully one without too much energy. His foster sister is a senior dog (former PAWS dog herself!) and is playing the role of auntie to him, keeping him in line while slipping him some extra toys to play with.

He loves playing with his toys and is getting better with walking on a leash. He is still a puppy though and needs supervision, lest you find your socks have left the laundry basket and mysteriously wind up in his bed. He’s working hard on learning basic commands and house training and likes playing with the human children in his foster home.

He does well on car rides and would love to go on hikes with his new family once the weather warms up a bit. It’s cold out there for a southern-born puppy!

Paws New England is a foster-based rescue - our dogs reside in various locations throughout the south and New England.

Adoption donations cover pre-adoption vet costs (including vaccinations, spay/neuter when age appropriate, and heartworm testing/treatment when necessary), a microchip, and transportation to New England if necessary.

Donations for our young, healthy puppies and dogs support their fellow canines of advanced age or suffering from injuries and abuse whose donations are reduced but whose veterinary costs are typically much higher. We appreciate your understanding that your newly adopted dog will help others in need
