Tired of the same old routine?
Are you looking for a little adventure in your life?
And at the same time, being part of an amazing transformation?
How about being the savior for one of two sweet energetic canine siblings who had been existing in a small backyard kennel and never knew the security and warmth of a loving home?

This was the reality for enchanting Esmerelda and amazing Mazie, two young sisters who spent their first year of life crammed into a small backyard kennel with another sibling, always confined. They probably dreamed of stretching their legs and running for miles! No doubt they would love homes with big, fenced yards.

Mazie had never been in a house before, but now she is in a loving foster home with kind people, her own cozy kennel, and enough food to eat. But oh, so much to learn! She is learning to let go of survival behavior that had served her well but is not valued in a loving home. She is quickly catching on to housetraining. She has only had one or two accidents in the house. And she does surprisingly well on the leash. She is easily corrected when she pulls and is friendly toward other dogs she meets while leashed. She also is a good car passenger.

Mazie does not like cats or small animals–perhaps not being able to chase the small creatures in her own backyard tormented her–but she would love to have another energetic dog to play with. She shows no aggression to people or dogs, even if they take a toy from her. She reportedly does well with older children too as we were told they were present in her previous home.

While confined in a small area with her siblings, Mazie had no resources to call her own; she is just learning to play with toys and how to share, because she has some food hoarding tendencies and is a little possessive of her crate, she feels safe and secure eating her meals by her self away from another dog. When you have so little for your first year of life it is hard to realize you no longer has to fear missing a meal.

Mazie goes into her kennel for food or when she is overwhelmed and will settle down after a few minutes.

Mazie and her sister will benefit from being adopted separately because of their deep-seated relationship dynamic:
Mazie is a dominant female, while her sister is submissive. Once each have their own family, they should really blossom and come in their own.

Mazie is friendly with other dogs, but can be a bit bossy and may need to be reminded of boundaries once in a while.

There is truly nothing more rewarding than rescuing a dog that has been deprived of comfort, love, and basic care. They are full of gratitude and only want to return the favor.
